⁷ Be still^(A) before the Lord
    and wait patiently^(B) for him;
do not fret^(C) when people succeed in their ways,^(D)
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.^(E)

⁸ Refrain from anger^(F) and turn from wrath;
    do not fret^(G)—it leads only to evil.
⁹ For those who are evil will be destroyed,^(H)
    but those who hope^(I) in the Lord will inherit the land.^(J)

¹⁸ A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict,^(A)
    but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.^(B)

⁸ The end of a matter is better than its beginning,
    and patience^(A) is better than pride.

⁹ Do not be quickly provoked^(A) in your spirit,
    for anger resides in the lap of fools.^(B)

²⁶ it is good to wait quietly^(A)
    for the salvation of the Lord.^(B)

²⁷ It is good for a man to bear the yoke
    while he is young.
